Is
Musc Tonkin from Parfume d'Empire. Earlier this week there was something as unusual as a Perfumenerd AW here in Stockholm. Many beautiful fragrances where displayed (and sprayed) such as some from Roja Dove, Mona di Orio, Amouage, Parfum d'Empire, exclusive Guerlains and Chanels, but also most interesting of all, extraordinary beauties from a vintage collection. The vintage collector, who so generously exposed those treasures to our noses, also owned the brand new Musc Tonkin, animalic,dirty and vintage in style. Among all the wonderful fragrances, Musc Tonkin was the one that made the lasting impression to me. Of course the vintage Guerlains, Givenchys, Chanels and others, with their dept, richness, high-quality ingredients and individual characters were outstanding and gorgeous. But as a specific fragrance, Musc Tonkin is the one!
That night made me seriously considering liquefying all my assets and spend everything on vintage perfume!
SvaraRaderaI have to agree about the Musc Tonkin. I know I'm anosmic to some types of muscs so I don't think I got the full experience, but I did get skanky gherkins, now how is that for a dirty association :)
Yes the vintages were dangerous stuff,have consciously avoided the vintage sub-market as there are so many current releases.But maybe there is less stressful just concentrating on niche as they are fewer but I doubt I am able to leave the coverage of interesting new releases.
SvaraRaderaWhen it comes to the small gherkins association I have a teory:I read that M-AC has created Musc Tonkin with vegetable musk with the intent to mediate the spirit of the real animalic tonkinmusk. The note of ambrette seeds which are used to mimic real musk smells like pickels. This is very evident in Chanel No 18 which features ambertte and its musky-vegetating notes.
Hm, I had no idea that ambrette smells like pickles. I tried Chanel No 18 last year and liked it very much, but I never thought about picles back than, I really have to retry it nd see if I can find it now. :)
SvaraRaderaI've read some complains about the pickles note in the initial ackord of No 18 but I like it and as it's so well-balanced it not that evident.Retry with the pickles in mind :-)
SvaraRaderaKan f.ö. meddela att jag efter ett lyckat flaskbyte numera är ägaren till nämna flaska Musc Tonkin. Och att doften från den håller i sig i >12 tim på huden! Helt fantastisk.
SvaraRaderaGrattis även till denna! Är också numera ägare till MT trots en tidigare olycklig överdosering. Var allt för triggerhappy och den vegeterande noten lade sig som ett kompakt djungelgolv.Längtar ändå att börja om med MT till hösten eftersom jag vet att den kommer falla ut bra med en låg dosering.
